Carol Lambert – Artist

I am an artist based in my studio at Persistence Works, Yorkshire Artspace on Brown Street in Sheffield.

My practice: Drawing/ Painting/ hand printed Linocuts.

Drawing is always the starting point for my work and sometimes an end in itself.

I am fascinated by the power and magic of plants. I never cease to be excited and captivated by their ever changing, dynamic forms, new shoots emerging, leaves unfurling, petals falling, seeds dispersing etc.   Often it is wild plants (weeds) that attract my attention as in my work on show (until 15/6/14) in the ‘Printing Sheffield’ exhibition at the Millennium Gallery.

Ian Geary

IAN GEARY, painter

I am a Sheffield artist working in oils and watercolour, I exhibit at local events and galleries and have won several awards and commendations.

My flower-themed paintings are influenced by the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. Using bold lines and flat colour the forms become simplified into semi-stylised patterns with a strong graphic basis.

Jill Ray

Local landscapes are the inspiration for Jill’s work. Currently the trees and woodlands of Sheffield and around Chatsworth Park as well as the Edges and Tors of the Dark Peak.

Jill paints in oil on canvas, but also makes prints of digital images which are created using a PC and an iPad as a sketchbook.

Jill Says “My interest lies in the changing pattern of light, colour and rhythm in the landscape.

The Florilegium Society

The Florilegium Society was established to produce an archive of botanical illustrations of the plants of Sheffield Botanical Gardens. Botanical illustration is the marrying of art and science where the structures of plants are displayed in clear, scientifically accurate detail. The archive will provide a useful source of reference and a scientific and historical record of the plants in Sheffield Botanical Gardens.
