Outdoors
I am an artist based in the Sheffield with over 45 years experience in the art business.
I hope you can make the time to look at all my images and appreciate the level of expertise, my command of an ever widening use of media and substrate combinations, subject matter and imaginative use of imagery.
Chris Campbell has been working as a practicing artist for over 20 years since graduating from Trent Polytechnic in 1980. Initially working from studios in Nottingham City Centre until 1993, he is now permanently based in the north Nottinghamshire village of Mattersey.
Campbell Design and Engineering Ltd. or CDE Ltd. have now been trading for over 6 years and now employs 12 full and part-time staff. The company manufactures most of its commissioned art and designed work within its own fully equipped metal fabrication, workshops, which can now deal with structures on almost any scale.
HANDSPRING DESIGN
Handspring Design is an award winning, designer-maker practice specialising in sculptural timber structures, shelters, seating and creative spaces.
We operate with a strong environmental and social agenda and are committed to using local resources and natural materials where possible. Native timbers – mainly oak and douglas fir – provide our primary material, but steel, stone and glass all have a part to play and are often incorporated into our designs.
Stoneface Sculpture copy for Garden Up 2014
Sheffield artist Andrew Vickers discovered a passion for sculpting whilst marking the dry stone walls he was building with a stone face. Sculpting a wide variety of media from natural stone and metals to reclaimed materials, the art of ‘Stoneface’ is inspired by Andrew’s spiritual surroundings at his woodland workshop at Storrs Wood where many of his larger sculptures line the bank of Storrs Brook.

Sheffield based sculptor, Jim Milner, works in local fine-grained sandstone. His beautiful geometric sculptural pieces will be at GardenUp, as well as some of his figurative works.
While some of his work is traditional – relief portraits and Celtic knot-work – most of his recent abstract geometric sculpture has been inspired by a life-long love of geometry.
My work celebrates the personalities and quirky attitudes of animals, domestic and wild, but the more I study them the more I am in awe of the beauty of their design.
I can only give quick impressions, rather like sketches in wire. The sculptures are all galvanised in Rotherham and live happily outside for years, lending animation to the garden even in the darkest winter days.
